I’m Amoris, and welcome to Real Magick! This website is an updated incarnation of my first Real Magick website created nearly 25 years ago on Tripod servers.

What is Real Magick?

Real Magick is about occult practices, not stage tricks. In these pages, you’ll be learning about how to make things happen and alter your perception of reality. You’ll also be exposed to a wide range of traditions, concepts, and resources that might otherwise be difficult to find in one convenient place.

Magick with a K

We spell Magick with a K to distinguish it from legerdemain, or slight-of-hand. This convention was started by Aleister Crowley, and it’s a useful distinction to make when searching for occult-related information online.

Goals

As the webmaster, I have the following goals in mind:

  • The first goal for this site is to serve as a Central Hub for accurate, unbiased information about occult topics. Please note that contributors to this site may be predominantly pagan in outlook, and some resources may be indicative of that underlying knowledge base. Also note that the opinions of our contributors do not necessarily reflect those of Real Magick as a whole.
  • The second goal is to help our readers find local covens, groups, and events so they may interact with fellow students and potential teachers within their community.
  • The third goal is to provide workable Quick Start Guides for seekers of various traditions. The most frequent question seen in online forums today is always, “How do I get started?”
  • The fourth goal is to help our readers avoid scams by personally vetting sources of information, including online courses.

In short, I intend to gradually create the information resource that I’d always wished I’d had when I first began my research in the pre-internet days.

Quick Start Guides

A first Quick Start Guide is in the works for general occult study. More will follow as time permits.

Non-Profit

Although this website is a mostly non-profit project, please note that affiliate links may be used for some books and services to help maintain an online presence. Web hosting isn’t cheap! I will do my best to avoid the use of distracting banner ads for now.

Social Media

You are welcome to visit the Real Magick presence on Facebook and Reddit. Please note that the Facebook page is merely for sporadic updates. The Real Magick community on Reddit is moderated by me, but it is not an official extension of this website. Reddit is a separate business entity. Please view that forum as its own separate thing. You may alert me to technical website issues by posting on the Facebook page.

Thank-you again for visiting, and please be patient as articles slowly trickle in. This is a work that will likely take years, not days!

Amoris is a occultist who has been active in the pagan and occult communities in the U.S. and Australia for the past 30 years. His areas of interest include Ritual Magick, Witchcraft, History and Folklore, Ancient Magick (PGM), Reiki (Usui Reiki Ryoho), and Energy Work. He was previously a member of the O.P.A., a Thelemic Golden Dawn order in Sydney formed by the late Barry Salkilld.

Amoris currently moderates the following communities on Reddit: RealMagick, Hekate101, Hekate, EnochianMagick, and Hecate (co-moderator). He previously ran the popular Real Magick e-group on Yahoo servers in the late 90s-00s and created the Enochian e-group at Yahoo as a backup for the famed Hollyfeld Enochian-l e-list. Amoris and his web forums were cited in the 2012 book Arguing with Angels by Egil Asprem. He is the creator of realmagick.org and a primary contributor.
